Taryn Brandes founded Brand Urban in 2019 to bring a specialized, strategy-first approach to the retail advisory business. Her instincts as a consumer, paired with her values as a brand ambassador, give her a natural fluency in the hospitality, wellness and retail world – creating alignment with her clients' real estate and growth goals.
With over a decade of real estate experience, Taryn has built a disciplined national advisory and brokerage platform, specializing in multi-unit rollout strategies for growth-stage hospitality and lifestyle retail brands. Today, she acts as real estate advisor and broker for Maman, Uchi Restaurants, Goop Kitchen, Trader Joe’s, Cactus Club, Quality Branded Restaurants, Sézane and WTHN Acupuncture, among others. In 2025, she helped launch the firm’s Growth Advisory – a strategic and uniquely positioned consulting platform, building upon her thoughtful advisory work with brands and consumer investors.
On the landlord side, Taryn brings her passion for retail merchandising and consumer trends to advise clients over the years such as Nuveen Real Estate, Rialto Capital, Prudential, Rockefeller Group, Urban Edge and Iconic Capital. She notably led the 2024 food & beverage repositioning at RXR and Blackstone's Starrett-Lehigh Building in Manhattan, and the recently launched the restaurant remerchandising at NorthPark Center in Dallas, Texas.
Prior to founding Brand Urban, Taryn launched and led Sweetgreen’s market-entry and initial rollout in New York City while at The Shopping Center Group. She was recognized by Crain's New York Business as one of its Notable Leaders in Real Estate in 2023, served on the Board of Directors for Maman, and is involved in NYC’s UJA Real Estate Steering Committee and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Taryn earned a B.S. from Tufts University and has a love for freestyle skiing.
