Taryn Brandes founded Brand Urban in 2019 to bring a specialized, thoughtful and data-driven approach to the tenant and landlord advisory business. Her passion as a consumer, paired with her fundamental values as a real estate brand ambassador have allowed her to mesh with the hospitality, wellness and retail world in a manner that creates true interest alignment.

She has over a decade of real estate experience specializing in market entry and multi-unit rollout strategies for hospitality and lifestyle retail brands. Since launching Brand Urban, Taryn has built a disciplined national advisory platform where she acts as a strategic real estate advisor and broker for growth-stage companies including Maman, Uchi Restaurants, Goop Kitchen, Cactus Club and Quality Branded Restaurants, and over the years has partnered with brands including Trader Joes, Shake Shack, Sezane Paris, WTHN Acupuncture and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in the New York Metro Region.

Taryn’s excitement for placemaking and retail merchandising has built the foundation for Brand Urban’s landlord advisory platform. Taryn’s landlord clients over the years include Prudential, Rialto Capital, Nuveen Real Estate, Rockefeller Group, Urban Edge, Iconic Capital and Federal Realty Trust. She has led the retail and hospitality repositioning at RXR and Blackstone’s Starrett Lehigh Building in Manhattan, and is currently overseeing the food and beverage remerchandising at NorthPark Center in Dallas, Texas.

Taryn was recognized by Crains New York Business as one of its Notable Leaders in Real Estate in 2023. Prior to launching Brand Urban in 2019, Taryn worked at SCG Retail, an urban division of The Shopping Center Group, with past clients including Sweetgreen, Starbucks and Sugarfish in the New York City Metro Region. Active in the community, Taryn sits on the Board of Directors for Maman NYC and is also on the board of both the NYC Chapters for the UJA Real Estate Steering Committee and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. Taryn earned a BS degree from Tufts University, has a love for skiing, and resides on the Upper West Side in New York City.
